Welcome to The Writer's Cabin

The Cabin's large deck stretches along the lakeside of the house for an uninterrupted view of sunrises and sunsets. You can even spot the Big Red lighthouse in the distance. 

Many guests enjoy lounging on the deck or playing on the private beach on warm summer days. 

Guests of the Writer's Cabin share the beach and yard with guests of the Main House for everyone to enjoy.

The Writer's Cabin can house 6 people with its 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. A breakfast nook, living room and large deck area make it great for smaller families.

Two of our bedrooms have incredible views of Lake Michigan. The Master bedroom has a King bed and a private sliding door to the deck. The guest bedroom has a similar view and a bed that can be converted to 1 King bed or 2 Twin beds. We also have a  bunk room with 2 Twin beds.

Previously the writing space of author Paul de Kruif, this cozy cabin is known for its peaceful view of the Lake.

In 2017, we remodeled the cabin to add modern amenities while maintaining its original charm. We keep a small library of Paul de Kruif's books (some translated into different languages) in Guest Bedroom 1 and other fun historical pieces around the rest of the home. You can even find a picture of the original cabin before any additions were made!

We are completely stocked with all the major appliances, dishware and cooking utensils that you may need.

Guests are expected to make their own meals, but we provide everything you might need to prepare them. Our appliances include a full-sized refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, Keurig, standard coffee maker, washer/dryer and iron. Air-conditioning is NOT available, but we provide a fan and window in every room to help keep guests comfortable.
